SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING

JUNE 11, 2003

7:00 PM

 

The Meeting was called to order by Mayor Astleford.

Present: Hagemann, Nordstrom, Astleford, Emerson, Timmerman

Absent: None

A summary of the closed meeting on June 2, 2003; the council named Janice Flolid as City Clerk and Angela Jacobson will be offered the Deputy Clerk position when she returns.

Project # 22 – Clerk

Councilmember Emerson spoke with Angela Jacobson and she wants in writing the salary breakdown for Deputy Clerk and also in writing that she will get the City Clerks position when Jan Flolid retires.

A motion by Timmerman seconded by Nordstrom to hire Jan Flolid as City Clerk and Angela Jacobson as Deputy Clerk when she returns, and put in writing the salary increases for Deputy Clerk and state that they would recommend that Angela would be the first person considered for the City Clerks position. All Ayes.

Project # 345 – Tax Abatement

Motion made by Nordstrom seconded by Emerson to open the Public Hearing to discuss the application of tax abatement project # 1 for Bender Motel/RV Parking on June 11th, 2003 at 7:03 pm. All Ayes

Mayor Astleford turned the meeting over to David Drown from David Drowns and Associates.

David Drown explained and answered any questions on the abatement plan.

Everyone in attendance had the opportunity to be heard.

Motion made by Emerson seconded by Hagemann to closed the Public Hearing at 7:30 pm. All Ayes.

A Resolution was presented by Emerson seconded by Hagemann to authorize a tax abatement on Bender Motel/RV Parking Project up to $4,500.00 for 10 years. When put to a vote the Resolution passed unanimously.

George Bender stated he would pay for installing the 8” sewer into his property from Nestor going down 4th Avenue West using his own contractor. If anyone else hooks up to it at a later date he wants to get reimbursed from them for extending the line.

Council had no objections, but asked Mr. Bender to correspond with Reggie Redetzke our city Superintendent on all the Rules and Regulations of the City.

Project # 233 – Watershed

A Resolution was presented by Emerson seconded by Hageman for a Revised Permit Application on Hwy 27th Project.

The Mayor appointed Gary Nordstrom as the Council Representative for the Sauk River Watershed District.

Timmerman brought up the pond which has to be on the East end of the City. How are we going to obtain the land? Mayor Astleford stated that Jerry Olson said he would give us 2 acres of land for $4,500.00.

Nordstrom stated when Astleford and Timmerman go see the Attorney in Elk River maybe that was a question for him as to the procedure that should be taken for these projects.

Meeting adjourned 7:50 pm.
